Hypothyroidism Weight Loss in Dubai
Hypothyroidism weight loss is simple with Dr Felix's personal care. There is no blaming everything on your thyroid, no extra thyroid pills to speed up your metabolism, and medication is prescribed by your doctor when there is a medical reason for it.
Your first visit includes a full medical check-up and blood work, including TSH. Dr Felix builds your plan on what the results show.

Thyroid checked first
Dr Felix checks whether your thyroid is well treated before anything else, including how you take your levothyroxine.
The rest of the picture
An underactive thyroid causes a modest weight gain. When weight keeps rising on a normal TSH, something else is driving it, and that is what gets treated.

What does a hypothyroidism weight loss plan include?
A hypothyroidism weight loss plan with Dr Felix starts with your thyroid values. Your plan is built on your TSH, your other blood results and your body composition.
- Thyroid: TSH, and free T4 when needed.
- Blood work: glucose, HbA1c, cholesterol and liver values.
- Levothyroxine check: dose, timing and anything that blocks absorption.
- Body composition and waist: not only the scale.
- Medication: weight loss medicine only with a medical reason.
- TSH rechecks: as your weight changes.

How much weight does an underactive thyroid cause?
An underactive thyroid causes a modest weight gain, partly from a slower metabolism and partly from fluid. Marked obesity is not typical of hypothyroidism, so when weight keeps rising on a normal TSH, the thyroid is rarely the main cause.
Thyroid hormone is not a weight loss treatment. People with normal thyroid levels should not take thyroid hormone for weight gain or tiredness, and in trials extra levothyroxine did no better than placebo for such symptoms.
Can I take weight loss injections with hypothyroidism?
Yes. An underactive thyroid is not a reason to avoid weight loss injections such as semaglutide (Wegovy) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro). They are not used in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, a rare condition that is different from common thyroid problems such as Hashimoto’s.
The usual rules apply: medication is considered at a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition, alongside nutrition and activity support, after an individual assessment of prior efforts, clinical needs and the applicable product information.
Does my levothyroxine dose change when I lose weight?
Levothyroxine is dosed by body weight, so a large loss can change what you need. After a weight loss of more than about 10 percent, the levothyroxine dose may need to be lowered, and TSH is checked 6 to 8 weeks after any dose change.

- 6 to 8 weeks after a changeTSH checked again
- After about 10 percent weight lossDose reviewed
What else helps with hypothyroidism weight loss?
Taking levothyroxine the right way keeps your TSH stable. Levothyroxine works best on an empty stomach with water, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast.
- Bedtime option: at least two hours after your last meal works as well.
- Coffee and tea: within an hour of the tablet can reduce absorption.
- Calcium and iron: take them several hours apart from levothyroxine.
- Same brand: staying on one product helps keep TSH steady.
- T3 tablets: not routinely needed. Most people do well on levothyroxine alone.

More questions about hypothyroidism and weight loss
What does hypothyroidism weight loss treatment cost?
The cost of hypothyroidism weight loss treatment depends on the blood tests you need and whether medication becomes part of your plan. You get the full cost in the consultation before anything starts.
My TSH is normal but I keep gaining. Why?
With a normal TSH, your thyroid is usually not the main reason. Other causes such as insulin resistance, medication, sleep or muscle loss are looked at next.
Should I switch to T3 or natural thyroid?
For most people, no. Levothyroxine alone is the standard. A combination with T3 is tried only in selected cases, for example after thyroid removal with lasting symptoms.
Can I take levothyroxine with a weight loss injection?
Yes. Keep taking levothyroxine as usual. TSH is checked during treatment, because the dose may need to change as the weight comes off.
